This is not an easy certification to achieve,
for it requires a total organization commitment. And once achieved,
it is subject to semi-annual independent audits. The following
is a brief summary of the process involved in attaining ISO certification:
Organizing and Preparing Registration
- Establish a management team committed to assigning
responsibilities, establishing a budget and setting a timetable.
- Train key team.
- Begin internal quality auditing.
- Document existing processes with quality procedures
and job instructions and identify areas needing improvement.
- Adopt improved quality procedures and job
instructions.
- Prepare the quality manual.
- Apply to your registrar representative for
an assessment.
- Submit the quality manual to the registrar
for review.
- Respond to the pre-assessment recommendations
from the registrar.
- Conduct a "dress rehearsal" audit.
- Submit the revised manual to the registrar,
and modify and fmalize quality practices.
Experiencing the Registration Audit
- Arrange for the registrars representatives
to conduct the assessment and identify any fmdings (discrepancies).
- Respond to the findings and submit the corrective
actions to the registrar for review.
- The registration certificate is then awarded.
Maintaining and Continuing Registration
- Maintain quality practice to ensure
continued compliance.
- Notify the registrar representative
of any major changes in practice.
- Arrange for the registrar representative
to conduct semi-annual
surveillance audit
